Jason has recently joined the firm.  Mr. Jason was a partner/principal of the firm Jason & Swift (and predecessor firms) in Chestnut Ridge, New York since 1984.  His areas of practice are construction, employment law, real estate and labor law.  He has represented the City of Boston as Assistant Corporation Counsel and currently represents many large construction development companies and is the County negotiator for Rockland and the Rockland Community College in labor relations.  Mr. Jason received his bachelor's from Duke University, his law degree from Boston University School of Law and a masters from New York University.  He is also an adjunct professor at New York University.

 

­Paul S. Ernenwein and Hobart J. Simpson recently spoke at a conference co-sponsored by The New York Municipal Insurance Reciprocal and The New York Schools Insurance Reciprocal.  The conference was geared to help municipalities control exposures to potential claims and litigation as it relates to municipal parks and other recreational facilities.  The conference was on recreational liability, covering legal issues, the recreational use statute, cross country hiking and snowmobile trails, playground management waivers and releases, fitness trails and other related topics.  It provided an excellent training opportunity for recreational directors, supervisors and other staff.

 

­Steven I. Milligram was elected President of the Orange County Bar Association.  Mr. Milligram has over 25 years litigation experience representing clients in personal injury litigation in the Courts and through Alternative Dispute Resolution.  He represents health care organizations and practitioners before Administrative Boards and in Health Law matters.  He practices in all state and federal Courts in New York and is listed in "Who's Who in American Law".

Ernenwein has been a Member of the Board of Trustees for the Orange County Citizens Foundation and has recently been appointed as Chairman of the Transportation Committee.  The Orange County Citizens Foundation is a dedicated group of engaged citizens interested in the preservation of Orange County as a good place to live and work.  It has pledged time and effort to the promotion of that goal.  The Transportation Committee will focus on County's transportation systems and their role in our growth and economic well-being.  They often deal with issues related to State and Federal initiatives as they impact our highways and public transportation systems.

Catania, Jr. has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Builder's Association of the Hudson Valley in New Windsor, NY.  Mr. Catania has assisted clients in the building industry in the prevention of construction disputes through appropriate contract negotiation and implementation and on the resolution of all types of construction claims before arbitration panels, mediators and through litigation in New York and Federal courts.  He is an arbitrator and mediator for several alternative dispute resolution entities, including American Arbitration Association and Settlement Systems.  He has defended and prosecuted all types of construction litigation, homeowner warranty claims, architectural and engineering claims and major commercial construction claims.

Rhett D. Weires has been associated with the law firm since January 1, 2001.  He is a graduate of Cornell University and received his law degree from American University Washington College of Law.  He has been engaged in the practice of law since 1995.  Prior to joining the law firm he worked as a litigator in New York City.  His primary areas of practice include matrimonial and family law, litigation, insurance, medical, legal and professional malpractice defense.  He resides in Ulster County with his wife and four children.

 

Paul S. Ernenwein has been associated with the law firm since July 1, 2002.  He is a graduate of Albany University and holds a law degree from Western New England Law School.  He has been engaged in the practice of law since 1996.  Prior to joining the firm he was an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County, and had worked with another litigating law firm in the Hudson Valley.  His primary areas of practice include litigation, medical, legal and professional malpractice defense, insurance, municipal and school law, as well as criminal defense.  He resides in Orange County with his wife and two children.
